After much debating with the part of me that has been wanting to write a post about worldbuilding for a couple of weeks now, I have decided that it is high time to fill my lovely readers in on what I’m even doing right now anyway!? (But look out for those worldbuilding thoughts next week…!)
For starters, I’ve received several inquiries via Instagram about the release date of my debut novel, which is just about the most wonderful thing to hear. Your support is invaluable to me. As to the concrete answer to your question, my debut does not yet have a set release date but is currently in the process of being edited, edited, edited. That probably sounds highly anticlimactic, but the editing process is actually my favorite part of writing (on the days when my favorite part isn’t outlining, of course). Editing is what turns an eh or even a good story into a masterpiece. That and coffee. So, rest assured that when you hold my work for the first time, breathing in that brand-new-book scent, every ounce of my soul has gone into making it a worthy new home for you. In the meantime, I’ll be keeping you updated here and in my exclusive email newsletter, which you can sign up to receive on either the Home page or About page.
On a different note, this month marks the beginning of Praxis and my life for the next nine months. During October and November, I will be dedicating myself to building a portfolio that screams, “Pick me!” to potential business partners. This month, I will be working my way toward that goal by completing four deliverables:
- Picking a role
- Writing a particular blog post (coming soon!)
- Creating an elevator pitch
- Taking a placement survey
I spent a couple of hours this morning carefully choosing a role that I believe will suit me during my six-month apprenticeship, which I’ll talk more about later this month, and my elevator pitch video will be posted on this site shortly. Feel free to laugh at the fact that of all the days I could’ve chosen to film a video using natural lighting, I chose solar eclipse day. *facepalm* Talk about a time crunch.
Also on the agenda for October is my Personal Development Project, entitled, “Target Market.” I will be reading Your Customer is the Star by Micah Solomon and blogging here twice per week (likely Tuesdays and Fridays).
Finally, based on the role that I have chosen to pursue for at least the next two months, I will be reading The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman. So this is the great balancing act of working, dancing, piano-playing and editing, editing, editing!

Love and vivid autumn colors to you and yours this month! As Anne says, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
